CH50

Key Features and Values

– Circulating immune complexes (CICs) are detectable in a variety of systemic disorders such as rheumatological, autoimmune, allergic diseases; viral, bacterial infections and malignancies.
– CH50 is mainly used  as primary screening of complement deficiency
– Absent or reduced individual complement components may results in Infections, Neisseria meningitis or sepsis
– Supported by comprehensive panel of markers for differentiation between classical and alternative complement activation

Product Description

Immunoenzymatic colorimetric method for the quantitative determination of complement functionality in human serum. CH50 kit is intended for laboratory use only.

Scientific Description
The primary utility of the CH50 in the practice of an allergist-immunologist is to screen for complement deficiency associated immunodeficiency (primarily classic or terminal complement component deficiencies).  Absent or significantly reduced individual complement components may result in infections, neisserial meningitis, or sepsis.
A reduced CH50 in this situation warrants quantification and functional assays of individual complement components.  Reduction of the CH50 occurs when individual complement component(s) are deficient or consumed.
